If you looking to play golf and meet people, then the Ladies section and the Mixed section offer a variety of events to be enjoyed. You are most welcome to join in.
The ladies’ section has a small committee, comprising Lady Captain, Vice Lady Captain and Past Lady Captain. They organise and co-ordinate many club events and inter-club golf matches on behalf of the ladies’ section each year. These offer a low-cost opportunity to play other courses and interact with fellow golfers across East Sussex and Kent.
Ladies Morning is on a Wednesday – when the ladies have exclusive tee times. For 7-day members there are also reserved tee times on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. These are usually as a ladies’ only event, but sometimes as a mixed - as we continue to encourage our male and female golfers to get out on the golf course together. There is a wide choice of events throughout the year for our ladies - including stablefords, medals, trophy competitions, knockouts, eclectics, texas scrambles, rumbles, betterballs, greensomes, foursomes - as well a
There are plenty of ladies “Friendlies” arranged for the main golfing season. The format for these informal golf matches are either foursomes or greensomes team events. Matches are played alternate years either home or away. All handicaps are welcome!
The main season starts and finishes with the Spring and Autumn meetings which focus not only on the golf but also on the social side of the ladies’ section. The golf competitions on the day are followed by a meal and prizegiving and offer a chance for all ladies to come together to celebrate and meet new members that may have joined the section. There is no pressure to play in the golf element – ladies can just opt to come along for the meal itself.
A Charity Day and Invitation Day used to be a permanent fixture in our calendar, but over the past years there has been a decline in the appetite for these. However, in most years the Dale Hill Captains get together and organise a mixed event, with a focus on supporting our charities. Depending on the format, this sometimes provides us ladies the chance to invite a friend along from other clubs to join us for these fun events and enjoy Dale Hill’s hospitality.
Volunteer members from the ladies’ section organise matches against the Men’s Seniors (which of course we love to win!). There are also matches against the Juniors and many local clubs in Kent and Sussex.
The Ladies play as a section in the Sussex County Ladies Golf Association (SCGLA) events which comprise of Divisional County matches. Dale Hill teams currently play in Division 4 (Martlets Blue and Yellow), the Trio Trophy, the Jerdein Memorial Salver, the Morrice 4’s, the Kathleen Rider Foursomes and the Presidents Team Trophy. Individuals may enter other county run events throughout the year.
Dale Hill Ladies also enter the Daily Mail Foursomes – initially a match is set in the ladies’ diary – the winning pair going forward to represent our club.
Aside from the golfing calendar there are other social events, such as the Christmas Lunch. The Dale Hill hotel itself also run many social activities throughout the year … posters are put up to advertise these and the Lady Captain includes details in her monthly email to the ladies.
Finally, a mention of the mixed matches. Similar to the ladies’ friendlies, these matches are scheduled across the main golfing season, home and away on alternate years. Usually played at the weekends, although sometimes midweek, these give us the opportunity to play against other clubs in Kent and East Sussex.
The Dale Hill members website provides the gateway into signing up for matches but also contains lots of useful information. The notice boards in the ladies changing room also provide an up-to-date snapshot of what’s going on in the ladies’ section.
In summary, we have a very active and welcoming ladies’ section here at Dale Hill for your enjoyment and fun.

Dale Hill has a very friendly and busy Junior section, continuing to grow in numbers and activity. Our Junior Members are aged from 7 to 18 years (junior membership expires on your 19th Birthday).
The professional staff organise weekly coaching throughout the year, currently running on Saturday afternoons. Sessions include range drills, short game / putting techniques and on-course coaching along with the occasional opportunity to use the indoor coaching facility. Sessions are split, aiming to keep juniors of similar abilities together. There is always an emphasis on FUN amongst our learning. Full and half day coaching camps are organised for all levels of Junior golfers through the school holidays.
It is our aim to encourage all Juniors to get involved with what the club has to offer. The Junior organiser encourages them to get out on the course to gain confidence before entering a club competition. We support all Juniors on their journey to gaining a handicap.
The Juniors are offered at least two competitions a month: Stableford/Medal or Fun team events a number of these are trophy competitions. We organise in-house matches against the ladies and seniors, and friendly fixtures against other local clubs. We have a short course marked out to get our new Junior members started on their golfing journey.
The more competitive Juniors participate in the Junior Sussex League:
Ø Four clubs around the county each host one event.
Ø The clubs send teams of 4 Juniors (Playing Handicaps up to 36 for boys and girls), with the best 3 Stableford scores to count.
Ø Teams include Dale Hill, Royal Eastbourne, Cooden and Willingdon golf clubs.
Ø The winning club after four events goes on to play in the Jack Langmead Plate, a Sussex County trophy competition.
We also invite Juniors to play in the annual county organised competitions, like the Andy Beer Invitational Trophy and the West Sussex Invitational Team event.
The Order of Merit is our most hotly contested Junior competition at Dale Hill, with a hefty voucher for the outright winner, and entry into our Champion of Champions event. This has proved to be one worth getting involved with. Points are awarded for entering, winning and placings.
The club welcomes Junior golfers of all abilities, having hosted junior taster days, school taster visits and then return sessions at the club.
Please encourage your son / daughter, grandson / granddaughter to come along. We pride ourselves on running an inclusive and thriving Junior Section and look forward to welcoming new juniors.
