THE Dale Hill Course
The Dale Hill course, formally a dairy farm, opened in 1973 forming the basis for Dale Hill as a golf club. Set out over approximately 130 acres, the Dale Hill course offers stunning views over the Sussex countryside. The course measuring just over 5800 yards and is shorter than its sister, The Ian Woosnam Course, but still offers a great challenge to all levels of golfers.
Over the years the course has matured well and has seen many changes from its original layout including the introduction of the new 9th and 17th holes which had to be redesigned when the Ian Woosnam course was built.
The course has a blend of holes, most tree-lined, with small testing greens.
It has a par 69 for men and par 70 for ladies.
Dale Hill Golf Club now operates robotic mowers. Please see the R&A rulings below regarding the procedures and rules that apply when robotic mowers are in use on the golf course.
Relief for Interference by Robotic mower or charging station: If a ball lies on or against a static robotic mower or charging station, or if they interfere with a player’s stance or area of intended swing, free relief (drop) is allowed under Rule 16.1b.
Ball Moved or damaged by a Robotic Mower: If a robot mower moves a ball at rest, it is considered an outside influence. You must replace the ball in its original spot (Rule 9.6) with no penalty. The original ball must be used unless it has been cut or cracked and then a substitute ball may be used.
Ball Deflected by a Robotic Mower: If a ball in motion is accidentally deflected by a mower, the stroke counts and the ball must be played as it lies (Rule 8.16.2).
Ball lands on a moving Robotic Mower: If your ball comes to rest on a moving outside influence located anywhere except on a putting green, you must NOT play the ball as it lies (15.2a(2)). Instead, you must take relief by dropping a ball in this relief area:
Reference Point: The estimated point right under where your ball first came to rest on the person, animal or moving outside influence. Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: One club-length, but with these limits, must be in the same area of the course as the reference point, and must not be nearer the hole than the reference point.
Player Conduct: Players must not interfere with or stop the movement of a Robotic mower. Any purposeful influence on a mower or its effect on a ball may result in penalty under Rule 1.2a (Serious Misconduct).
